Yankee Magazine Photo Shoot at the Florence Griswold Museum

Miss Florence's Garden, 8x10, acrylic, copyright 2010, Jan Blencowe

Yesterday, I had a wonderful opportunity to participate in a photo shoot for Yankee Magazine! Yankee Magazine specializes in all things New England, and they chose the historic gardens at the Florence Griswold Museum to feature in an article for next summer (2011). They asked the museum to invite a few artists to set up in the gardens and paint for the photo shoot to recall the artists colony that flourished there at the turn of the 20th century.

I haven't had my photo taken so many times by a professional photographer since my wedding, and while I did where a hat at my wedding I looked considerable better than in my big floppy painting hat the photographer insisted I wear "for effect". LOL

Above are the two paintings I did during the photo session.  I have no idea if they will end up using any of the photos of me or my paintings in the final layout of the article, I guess I will have to wait until next summer to find out!

Love the wedding photo, Jan. Your husband is a nice looking guy. I absolutely love the floral garden piece you did too. The bottom painting...is that one you did a demo on not so long ago? It looks familiar...Hope you make it into the article!!

I'm always impressed by the color richness you achieve with acrylic, rivaling my preference for oil. These are great.

That being said, it must be excruciating, waiting all the way 'til next summer just to see if you appear in the article!
