I finished the large 20x03 landscape I've been posting progress picture of, but the weather was so dark and rainy today I wasn't able to photograph it outdoors. That's probably a good thing because I will take some time and study it and make sure it's really done.
Meanwhile, I have some great publicity news to share with you! I'm the featured artist this month at the Artists Center website. It's a great interview check it out here. Plus, I'm on their First Annual Artists Center Holiday Handmade Gift Guide here.
As if that wasn't enough I am also featured on the Affluent Artist blog on their Christmas Ideas page here
How am I getting all this publicity you ask? Well much of what I do, I learned at the smARTist Telesummit last year which is why I encourage you to sign up this year. Find out all about smARTist here
I have a great new widget in the side bar for the 140 Hours auction which begins Friday Dec. 12th at 4pm NY time. 140 Hours is always evolving and I have exciting news. Now you can register and bid by clicking on the words register here and click to bid right in the widget. How cool is that? Again if you're getting this post in your inbox via e-mail you'll have to go to the actual blog to see this.
Also, all art work in the auction will start with an opening bid of $5, yup you saw that right, five dollars. There will be a secret reserve price, set by the artist so the work will only sell when the artists reserve price has been met or exceeded. This is really a fair thing to do for the artists plus it allows the bidding to start really low but get going fast which generates a lot of excitement.
Oh, one more thing! I posted this tweet on twitter a few days ago: Artists are perplexed NON -ARTISTS why r u more comfortable spending $ on jewelry, clothing, handbags than paintings?
This tweet got noticed by ArtisBroken.com and they wrote an article based on my tweet, check it out here
(Did I mention that one of the speakers at smARTist this year is Laura Fitton, author of Twitter for Dummies, and she is going to teach us how to Tweet your Art with Twitter)
I know it seems like a whirlwind of activity, but actually I'm taking it kind of easy. With the slushy rain and snow today I stayed in my jammies all day and convinced some twitter artist buddies to do the same LOL. I am focusing this month on the more prayerful and solemn season of advent and have been successful at avoiding much of the over-commercialized holiday hoopla. One book I'm using to help me is God with Us: Rediscovering the Meaning of Christmas profound words of meditation and devotion are enhanced by classic and contemporary art masterpieces carefully selected by the editors. If you're spiritually inclined and love art you will love this book and use it year after year.
