View from Kaaterskill Falls Plein Air Painting

View from Kaaterskill Falls Plein Air Painting, painting by Jan Blencowe

copyright 2009, Jan Blencowe, Connecticut, USA

About This Painting:
Kaaterskill Falls is higher than Niagara, and this is the beautiful view into the mountains from there. Thunder was rumbling in the distance & eventually chased me off the mountain. The mysterious mists and changing weather along with the ancient rounded peaks of the mountains are surely what inspired Washington Irving to write Rip Van Winkle! Can't you just imagine him tucked away underneath a rocky outcrop sound asleep somewhere out there in the mountians?
