Plein Air Sketchbook Boats and Sunsets

Boats moored along the Indian River with those all too familiar gray rain clouds.

Sunset in Clinton Harbor the evening before the summer solstice.

I just love sketching outdoors. My goal for the summer and fall is to fill my new 50 page sketchbook with plein air sketches. I'm using a Pentalic Nature Sketch which is wonderful with 8.5 x 11, pH neutral, 130lb., 25% cotton heavyweight natural white drawing paper. It takes watercolor beautifully. Best of all a percentage of the price is donated to the American Wildlife Foundation. My preferred pen is a black Uniball Vision Micro which is waterproof and fade proof. The watercolors are a small 10 color set of Yarka. It's hard to find this little set of semi moist watercolors, so use the link to order them.

Hope you're enjoying seeing these as much as I am enjoying making them!

Don't forget the next international SKETCH CRAWL is in 18 days! July 11th, 2009. Get a group together or go solo and join in the world wide drawing marathon.

Here's a nifty blog article on the Top 10 Most Expensive Paintings of All Time these are paintings that have sold at auction. Don't bother reading the comments though, they quickly deteriorate into a childish name-calling fest as people argue and rant about the merits or lack there of, of modern art. Just read and enjoy the art!
