Ok, so here'e the painting up close and in progress. Working with a limited palette of just three colors, yellow ochre, ultramarine blue and transparent red oxide plus titanium white. You can still see some of the transparent red oxide underpainting in the lower right .
Amazing how just these three can make so many different colors. Really, the three primaries plus white (& black if you'd like) can create a full range of colors and values, with the added bonus of guaranteed harmony.
If you've never tried working with a simple limited palette of a red, a yellow and a blue, than I suggest you give it a try. It's like color mixing boot camp, challenging you to really understand how secondary and tertiary colors are created.
