This painting is from a few years ago but the amazing thing about plein air painting is that you always remember exactly when, where and other particulars about the day.

It was so windy that day that I started painting and had to wipe down the block in and move to another spot. Even the second spot was too windy. Stretched canvas on an easel acts just like a sail in the wind and my easel kept blowing over.

After a couple of hours, I wiped the painting down again because it was so hard to keep the canvas and brush steady in the wind. It was getting colder but I was very determined to bring home a painting.

Finally, I moved to the side of another building that blocked the wind and painted the farm house. That turned out to be a good thing since the windows and the reflections in them turned out to be really interesting to paint.

This is a painting I like very much, and the hard work and story behind makes it even more valuable.
