Yesterday I had a tooth extracted, so no new painting. Backlit Trees, above, is a piece from last year. It took 1st place in the Madison Art Society Annual Summer Show in 2007. But, since it's filled with delicious, warm autumn color I thought I'd share it today.
Yesterday I also received notification that I was accepted as a guest artist into Gallery One's Fall/Holiday Show, Artists and Artisans: Small Works. Gallery One is a really neat cooperative gallery in Old Saybrook, CT, that shares a space with the Clay House. There will be 2 openings one in November and one in December. These openings coincide with the Saybrook Artz Nights, which are the second Friday of each month. Visitors can travel around town to various galleries, shops and restaurants sample refreshments, view art and other eclectic items, and fill out free raffle tickets for goods and services from participating businesses. It's new and catching on and a great way to spend a Friday evening. Despite economic woes I am hoping for a brisk holiday sales season. Small works are of course a great item for gift giving, or a perfect way for someone to acquire a beautiful original painting without breaking the bank.
