Poppies Near the House

Poppies Near the House, 6x8, oil

It's poppy mania LOL!!! I've enjoyed painting these tremendously, I think it's the bold, saturated, intense color of the poppies and how the sunlight makes them glow orange. I have two pots of fragrant white tulips tinged with a bit of green and I think they will occupy me for the next few days...but somehow I think the poppies will reappear in the not too distant future. It's always exciting when something grabs you and a series of paintings along a theme is born. After some winter blah's and a bit of painter's block it's good to feel enthusiastic again!

This is gorgeous! The warm evening light on the house looks lovely and the poppies are stunning.

This is exactly the composition of a painting I tried unsuccessfully. From a low angle with the window and the clapboards in the background, but I couldn't get the poppies right. This may inspire me to try again. Love it.
