Say WHAT??? If you're a regular here you're probably wondering if you're on the right blog! No landscape, no donuts, not even a piece of fruit! Nope! I just couldn't seem to paint anything today, probably because I'm working very hard, painting like mad getting ready for a solo show at a new gallery in April. I'm feeling creatively drained from all the intense output and after completing a large landscape this morning I just couldn't seem to get a small "daily" done so after several attempts...a teacup, a stack of books, tubes of paint, even my dog was a subject, I decided to free myself from the tyranny of subject matter and let loose with the paint and brushes. This is actually a piece about relationships, relationships of color, shape, form, line and mediums, the left section of the painting is an oil the right an acrylic. It sparks the idea that in a painting everything is relative to something else. A value will be lighter or darker relative to what's next to it, same goes for color intensity and temperature as well as all other elements of the painting. Very fun and very freeing, I enjoyed doing this and I hope you enjoy it too!
